18 Ultimate Garage Tour
aka TOYS 'R US!
(go to
to see the pictures)
What am amazing day! You could not ask for
a bigger Toy Story!
My goodness people...how do you even have the time!
Great
passions were shared in 3 amazing "Garage" stops.
Our
first stop was at the new and amazing Al and Pam Deml residence.
BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!
Some Al grillin' cuisine and good conversation was enjoyed by
all. What a View!
Someone whined to get rid of the gravel, Al rebuffed with a promise to
tile the entire drive! Stay tuned...
Al and Pam remodeled the former Hidden Creek golf course club
house into their new home.
Al showed us how the golf cart storage area is being converted
into an awesome vehicle storage with lots of space.
Our
2nd stop was to Bernie LaCanne's. WHOA that sweet rare
Black 1964!!!! (and that bathroom!)
Beverages and snacks were provided before we headed to our
final destination.
The Final
stop for the day was at Rich and Glenys Lorenz's.
Corvettes have been a fun hobby for Rich and Glenys and we
were able to view 40+ years of toy collecting!
Rich has accumulated much corvette toy memorabilia. Their garage not
only provides parking for their corvette cars,
but also a display area for the collection of many corvette related
items.
Lunch and bonfire were provided to finish the days activities of
the garage tours.

13-15 Vettes in Midwest (Joplin)
(go to
to see the pictures)
Joplin, MO
We started out at 6am Thursday: Bernie, Dave
& Pam, Demls, Georges, and Lunds---the Hoffmans followed later.
We had a small detour in Iowa because of all the rain that Iowa had
and we stopped at the Casino in KC for lunch. It was great as
always.
Everyone has plenty to eat and we were treated to an employee singing
Happy Birthday to a patron. It was absolutely wonderful!
As you remember it was very very hot out. The Georges could only have
their top down for a short time it was tooooo hot.
We made it to Joplin with no mishaps and checked into the Hotel where
we all went to the bar for free cocktail hour. What fun and
snacks to boot.
James and Cory had a great time on Friday when Al Deml led us on some
very curvy roads to Branson.
They were glad he didn't plant his vette into the backside of a log
truck.
Hoffman's car overheated in the heat. Temps were 105--107- heat index
of 120 Jim said.
Hofffmans had some hiccups in their vacation this time. Road rage...car
inconveniences...remember Jim and Lez's troubles
I guess it was their turn.
We had a run to downtown Joplin for a Cars Show. All the corvettes
were on display there. Around 40 cars.
The Poker run was great. The Lunds, Wendlends, Georges, and Demls went
on this run..saw much interesting Route 66 stuff and we had a ball.
We saw the original TOWMATER from the movie (CARS)!
Also went on a cruise to a Filling station on ROUTE 66...many other
cars got lost on this event,
but those of us that made it were treated to Ice Cold watermelon and
free Pop and Water!
Lots of ROUTE 66 stuff for sale there for cheap. Neat old Gas Station.
The 50's Nite was great, as you can see we (Patty and Paul--Colleen
and Dennis--and Jim and Marilyn and Cory) were the only ones
dessed up.
We were the hit of the nite cause no one else dressed up
like the 50's.
The band was fantastic...we danced all nite...even the guys did their
stuff.
Bernie and the grandson left early on Sat. aft to come home...Deml's
left on Sat evening to come home.
Rised and Shined on Sunday mornin' for a fast trip home.
Colleen 's girlfriends from Fargo were with us also...Fun girls and
boy could Barb handle that Vette on the corners!
They liked to follow Al and Bernie.

28-30 Hutch Corvettes for a Cause!
(go to to see the pictures)
Hutchinson, MN
The Georges, Demls , Bernie, Dave and Pam.
We had a great time, the weather was hot, Demls and Bernie and Dave all
drove their Motor home to Hutch. So they were comfy & cozy
in their homes. We played Lawn Games and sat out back at the Hotel.
Dinners and the Saturday Night 50's was a lot of fun. Bernie on Guitar
and Pam and Dave doing the Hoola Hoop!
What a blast.

32nd
Annual Young Life Cake Auction
At
the February meeting it was voted in to donate up to $200 in merchandise
for the auction. Allan &
Pam Deml volunteered to donate the cake this year.
Thanks Allan & Pam!!! This year we changed things up a little
bit and purchased an Oak Framed Terry Redlin Print (Morning Surprise), 2
Terry Redlin coffee mugs (Best Friends & Evening with Friends).
Black Hat, T-shirt & Hooded Sweatshirt with the Hiawathaland
Corvette Assn logo. Ron
Fuller also donated 4 Corvette Matchbox cars.
Our
donation was auctioned off for $230 and went to Dick & Marilyn
Pedersen. Congratulations
Dick & Marilyn!!!
The auction took in a record amount of money – more than $61,000!!!
This auction is one of Young Life’s most important fundraising events
of the year. There are no
real organizations in Owatonna that support Young Life’s staff and
camp trips. The money raised
goes towards its operating costs and programs.
Thank-you
for voting in this event…it is a much worthwhile program for the youth
of Owatonna!!!
