June Minutes

The June 12^th meeting of the Hiawathaland Corvette Association was called to order by President Don Buskovick at 7:30 P.M. at the Knights of Columbus Hall. There were 20 members present.

Old Business:

After some discussion on the newsletter Ron Fuller made a motion that we suspend newsletter mailings for the summer and see how that goes. Bob Lee seconded the motion. The motion carried. A suggestion was also made to have Cheryl put our newsletter on the member’s only page.

Last month it was decided to have the Association registration renewed so the club could be insured. There was a $35.00 fee to the Minnesota Secretary of State. Members also must join the National Council of Corvette Clubs (NCCC) which provides insurance by the K & K Insurance Co along with many other benefits. The cost to join is $35.00 per new member with spouse/companion fee of $10.00. Renewal (yearly) is $25.00 per member with spouse/companion $10.00. Those members present filled out the membership cards and Don will mail the cards to those members not present or bring them to the Medford Parade on June 20^th.

New Business:

Mary presented information on the 2009 National Corvette Caravan to Bowling Green. This is put on by the National Corvette Museum. Paul Christopher is the captain of the North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota region. He may come to meet with those club members interested from the Owatonna and Rochester Clubs. The Bowling Green celebration takes place September 3-5^th, 2009. The Minnesota meeting place is at Grossman Chevrolet in the cities for breakfast on September 1^{st (}2009). From there the caravan will go to Beloit, Wisconsin to meet up with the groups from that region and then all on to Bloomington, Wisconsin for the first night. She also reported that the Hutchinson trip was a fabulous, well organized, fun event. And Dave LaCanne won the dart tournament and Bill Greene & Jim George took 2^nd in the golf tournament!!

Upcoming Events:

The Straight River Days Parade is in Medford on June 20^th at 6:30. We are #22 in the parade and are to be at the old football field by 6:00. All are invited to a bonfire party at Hoffman’s after the parade.

Dana Christensen may be able to get tickets for the Indy Race on June 22^nd in Newton, Iowa. He will send out an email on this, or a different event for that week-end if he does not get those tickets.

Bob Lee reminded the club about the Ellendale Parade on July 19^th at 4:00.

Other upcoming events decided on at the meeting are:

Club 57 in Waseca on June 24. Meet at MGM at 5:30.

Stewartville drive and dine on June 27^th. Meet at 5:30 at Taco Johns

Busters in Mankato on July 17^th. Meet at 5:30 at MGM.

Washington Lake… July 26^th. Meet at MGM at 1:00.
