April Minutes

The April meeting of the Hiawathaland Corvette Association was called to order by President Don Buskovick at 7:30 on April 10th at the Knights of Columbus Hall.

The treasurer’s report was read.

Old Business:  As of last month, there has not been anyone in charge of putting together our newsletters.  After some discussion it was decided that for now we won’t have a newsletter but will see if Cheryl Braget will put the minutes on the website.  Patti H will contact Cheryl and report back at the next meeting.

Julie reported that after our last meeting a member of the Young Life Cake Auction committee had called her and asked if we would still be interested in providing a cake for the auction.  As it had been approved at the last meeting, Julie & Don Buskovick and Ron Fuller put together items and ordered a cake for the auction.  A thank you to them for doing this!  The cake brought in $325 for Young Life.

New Business:    As approved at the March meeting, Mike Corbin checked in to changing the bylaws to divide the Secretary/Treasurer position in to two separate positions.  He found that there is more that needs to be done before this can take place.  Mike, Don and Craig will get details to present and be voted on at the next meeting.

Mike also had information on a rally in the Wisconsin Dells June 5th.  It is a 5 day rally with a $150 registration.  Lots of fun events.  Contact Mary Greene or Mike for more information or check the website calendar.

Don was contacted by the owner of the Out to Lunch restaurant in Waseca.  He’s hoping there would be interest for some Corvette’s to attend a car show there on Saturday July 19th from 5-9 P.M.  It’s a Rib Fest, prizes, etc.

Welcome to new members Allan and Pam Deml and Keith and Carol Kearney!!

Upcoming Events: Craig Haw mentioned the great run that took place last April to the Feed Mill in Jordan.  As we are all anxious to get the Corvettes out and on a run, several members were interested in going there again for a brunch. Craig agreed to lead the run.  The date will be April 27th with the meeting place at Caribou Coffee at Three Corners (near Cabelas) at 10:15, leaving at 10:30.

Mary Greene reported that those planning on the Mackinaw Island trip in August should contact Jim George for information on motel reservations.  The plan is to leave Tuesday, August 19th at 6:30 A.M. and drive to Thunder Bay.  After spending a day there, we will continue to Mackinaw on Thursday morning.  All of the Rally events take place Friday, Saturday and Sunday.   Cruising back on Monday.

More events reported by Event Coordinator Bob Lee:  the Memorial Day parade (May 26th) with picnic at Greene’s after; Hutchinson, week-end of May 30th; June 14th Eddie Cochran days in Albert Lea; Straight River Parade in Medford on June 20th (Bonfire party at Hoffman’s after); July, Ellendale and New Richland parades.

Please remember to check the website calendar for details!!
